Singapore organisations surveyed reported estimated average losses of US$3.49 million from insider security incidents over the past 12 months, the highest among 14 countries included in a global study commissioned by cybersecurity company Trellix.
The findings come from Trellix’s “Mind of the CISO: The New Insider” research, based on a survey conducted by market research firm Vanson Bourne of 600 CISOs or equivalent roles across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific. Trellix said 50 respondents were based in Singapore.
The survey also pointed to concerns among Singapore security leaders about AI adoption and insider risk. Trellix said 84% of Singapore CISOs surveyed were concerned about sensitive data leakage caused by AI-driven or autonomous systems, while 60% reported insufficient visibility into how employees use AI tools within their networks.
Alongside the research results, Trellix announced Trellix Wise for Private Cloud, which it described as an on-premises, federated AI capability designed for security operations centres (SOCs). The company said the product is intended to help organisations use AI for threat detection and response while keeping data within on-premises, private cloud, hybrid or air-gapped environments.
“The threat landscape has fundamentally shifted, where AI isn’t just accelerating attacks; it’s commercializing them,” said Vishal Rao, chief executive officer at Trellix. “Our strategy for the AI era is clear: meet AI-powered threats with AI-powered defense. Trellix Wise for Private Cloud enables our customers to harness the speed and precision of AI on their terms, ensuring resilience without compromise.”
Neville Vincent, SVP and general manager, APJC at Trellix, said organisations in the region were seeking faster security operations without losing control in regulated environments.
Trellix said the private-cloud offering uses predictable pricing rather than token-based consumption, and aims to provide auditable outcomes and explanations for AI-driven decisions to support governance requirements.
In a separate regional quote included with the announcement, Ilan Rubin, CEO at Wavelink Communications Pty Ltd, said: “Organizations across the region want faster threat investigation without giving up control of sensitive data. Trellix Wise for Private Cloud helps us address both needs, bringing AI-powered security operations into customers’ existing environments so their teams can spend less time investigating alerts and more time addressing threats.”
The research also found that in Singapore, 40% of organisations plan to prioritise detection and response investment for AI-related identity risks in the next 12–24 months, according to Trellix.
The company positioned the research and product launch against a broader shift in security operations, arguing that adversaries are increasingly using AI to scale attacks and that enterprise SOC teams face growing volumes of telemetry and alerts that can outpace human analysis.
