Nemetschek APAC has signed memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with Singapore’s Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and Singapore Polytechnic (SP) to develop AI and digital delivery capability for the built environment sector, as Singapore prepares to make CORENET X mandatory for new building projects from 1 October 2026.
The agreements are aimed at addressing skills and training requirements as regulatory submissions shift from document-based processes to coordinated 3D Building Information Modelling (BIM) models through the CORENET X platform. The company said the partnerships are intended to embed model-based delivery and AI-assisted workflows into education programmes, while also extending training to working professionals.
Nemetschek said the initiative is led by Jonathan Ng, newly appointed Managing Director for Southeast Asia. In a statement, Ng said: “AI and digital delivery are changing how buildings get designed, approved, built and operated, but the sector cannot adopt what it cannot staff.”
Under a five-year MOU, ITE and Nemetschek plan to collaborate across all three ITE colleges on digital innovation, applied learning and capability development in the sustainable built environment and creative design sectors. The partnership includes training in digital creative design and visualisation, BIM and Integrated Digital Delivery (IDD), and may involve curriculum updates, access to selected Nemetschek software and learning resources, and exploration of digital labs and demonstration spaces.
“As the built environment and creative design sectors become increasingly digital, the next generation of talent needs strong technical foundation and the confidence to innovate across connected workflows,” said Alvin Goh, Principal of ITE College East, in the release.
Nemetschek’s three-year MOU with SP’s School of Architecture & the Built Environment, effective 1 September 2026, covers curriculum development for both pre-employment training (PET) and continuing education and training (CET). The agreement also includes student internships with Nemetschek, industry attachment opportunities for lecturers, and co-organised forums, workshops and learning journeys for students and industry stakeholders.
Training areas under the SP partnership include AI-assisted regulatory compliance, IFC model validation, CORENET X-related submission processes, Smart FM and Digital Twin applications. “Built Environment education must evolve with the industry. We need to prepare our students for an increasingly model-based, data-driven and digitally integrated way of working,” said Dr Faris Akbar Hajamaideen, Director of SP’s School of Architecture & the Built Environment.
The MOUs follow Nemetschek Group’s previously announced partnership with Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, in October 2025, which the company said focuses on translating AI research into deployable solutions for sustainable construction and design-to-operations workflows.
