Payment services provider Fiuu has launched support for Apple’s Tap to Pay on iPhone in Malaysia, allowing merchants to accept in-person contactless payments using an iPhone and the company’s Virtual Terminal (VT) iOS app.
According to the company, the service enables acceptance of contactless credit and debit cards, Apple Pay and other digital wallets without additional payment hardware. Fiuu said the rollout in Malaysia follows its December 2025 launch of Tap to Pay on iPhone in Singapore.
Fiuu said merchants can enable the feature through the Fiuu VT iOS app on an iPhone 11 or later running the latest version of iOS. At checkout, merchants prompt customers to hold their contactless payment method near the iPhone, with the transaction completed using NFC.
In the announcement, Fiuu said Apple’s Tap to Pay on iPhone uses iPhone security and privacy features, and that Apple does not store card numbers or transaction information on the device or on Apple servers. The company noted that encrypted card numbers are temporarily stored on the iPhone only for transactions made in “Store and Forward” mode.
“The future of commerce is not about choosing between online and offline payments, it is about enabling both seamlessly,” said Eng Sheng Guan, CEO of Fiuu. “With Fiuu VT iOS app and Tap to Pay on iPhone, we are giving merchants a true omnichannel payment experience that enables their customers to pay through their preferred channels, including Apple Pay.”
Fiuu listed several brands it said are using the capability in Malaysia, including Allbirds Malaysia, Hedgren, Herschel Supply Co., Hydro Flask and Kipling.
The move comes as payments providers across Southeast Asia push toward device-based acceptance methods that can reduce reliance on dedicated point-of-sale terminals, potentially lowering setup costs for smaller merchants while broadening where contactless payments can be taken.
