Security Exhibition and Conference 2015 lines up world-class thought leaders

Leading experts will be challenging the readiness of the Australian security industry for a host of threats, both physical and online, when the Security Exhibition and Conference returns to Melbourne from July 15-17.Security Exhibition 2015 Sml

One of the featured speakers at this year’s ASIAL Conference, NATO and Federal Government Adviser Nicole Matejic will demonstrate in her session on Thursday July 16 how information warfare, especially on social media, is being used to influence and motivate target audiences around the world. Ms Matejic will explain how this is not just the military’s problem, but an important issue for the Australian security industry:

“With security companies facing a multitude of threats from on and offline sources, security managers must not only be able to understand the changing risk environment but also how to effectively communicate during critical incidents,” Ms Matejic said.

“When you’re on social media, what you say is just as important as when and where you say it. Security managers need to realise that the conversation will be happening with or without them online during critical incidents and crises.”

Other leading experts joining Ms Matejic on the ASIAL two-day paid conference program for security end-users include:

  • Senetas Chief Technology Officer Julian Fay, who will discuss ‘Cyber-threat to cyber-terrorism essential practices in an insecure world’; and
  • SNP Security General Manager Craig Millar, who will discuss ‘Managing risk and delivering security in the digital age’.Security-Expo-Francis-Bond-J1A0069-Print

The ASIAL Conference will be supported by the three-day Security Seminar Series, sponsored by Anixter,  which is free to attend and will offer practical advice for installers and integrators on a range of current trends.

ViDi Labs Director and author of the industry renowned books ‘CCTV’, Vlado Damjanovski is headlining this year’s Security Seminar Series and will be hosting two important sessions for installers, consultants and distributors. Mr Damjanovski will use his sessions to cover his most recent research project as well as provide the latest updates in surveillance technology and what the future has in store:

“In surveillance, our aim is to collect clear and crisp images so that we can easily identify persons of interests, vehicles and different objects even when they are moving. In my seminar sessions I will explain how to achieve optimum camera settings, exposure, lens and the science behind minimising the blur of moving objects,” Mr Damjanovski said.

Mr Damjanovski will also be discussing the beyond high-definition technology 4K and what is next in the pipeline, the 8K.

Security Event Manager Alanna Phillips said the seminar series would also cover trends and innovation in system integration, home security and automation, the cloud and access control.

Leading experts and topics at the 2015 Security Seminar Series include:

  • Genetec Global Director of Product Management Francis Lachance, who will be speaking about what the cloud means to the security sector and how it will impact the future of the industry; and
  • Axis Communications and ONVIF Director Per Bjorkdahl, who will provide an update on the growing influence of standards in the IP-based physical security market.

The third day of the seminar series will be a vendor program hosted by Anixter.

The 30th annual Security Exhibition and Conference 2015 will be held at the centrally located Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre from July 15 to July 17.
