Equinix and Cisco expand collaboration on sovereign AI infrastructure in Singapore

Equinix has announced an expanded collaboration with Cisco to support what the companies describe as secure, sovereign access to AI infrastructure in Singapore.

Under the arrangement, organisations can deploy Cisco Secure AI Factory with NVIDIA within Equinix’s Singapore data centres. The companies said the offering is a validated architecture intended to simplify and secure AI deployments, and can be extended to edge locations using Cisco Unified Edge for environments such as retail stores, hospitals and warehouses.

The announcement comes as organisations in Asia-Pacific increase AI adoption while contending with legacy infrastructure, latency requirements, data sovereignty expectations and fragmented environments. Citing the 2025 Cisco AI Readiness Index, the release said 83% of Singaporean organisations plan to deploy AI agents, while only one in 10 report networks that are fully flexible and able to scale instantly.

Equinix and Cisco said the approach is designed to support workload scaling while maintaining data governance and sovereignty requirements. The companies also pointed to Equinix’s partner ecosystem, saying organisations can work with more than 2,000 technology companies to test configurations, connectivity needs and deployment support across data centres, cloud and edge sites.

“Singapore continues to place the digital economy at the heart of its national growth strategy, investing in digital infrastructure, AI, quantum computing, connectivity and talent to strengthen its position as a leading digital innovation hub,” said Yee May Leong, managing director, Singapore, Equinix. “As AI becomes more embedded in business strategies, organisations need to connect to their ecosystems, make informed decisions, and scale with confidence. Through our expanded collaboration with Cisco, we will help organisations extend their AI infrastructure from centralised data centres to distributed environments while keeping operational complexity in check.”

Cisco said its Secure AI Factory with NVIDIA can be deployed within Equinix data centres to support private high-performance processing in the data centre or at the edge, with built-in security and observability and a zero-trust approach across layers of the AI stack. The release also said customers can use fleet-management techniques to manage AI projects and reduce data retrieval times for near real-time decision-making at the edge.

“Organisations scaling their AI ambitions need a foundation that is simple, secure, and scalable,” said Bee Kheng Tay, president, ASEAN, Cisco. “Our collaboration with Equinix simplifies how customers build their AI infrastructures so they can focus on driving business value and innovation.”

The companies said the initiative supports Singapore’s National AI Missions, and is intended to provide secure, edge-ready infrastructure for scaling AI use across sectors including finance and manufacturing.
