UL logoUL is pleased to announce its offices in Dubai are expanding due to growth and its strategic plans to serve the Middle Eastern and African region with their security, compliance and interoperability consulting, testing and certification services. The expansion will enable faster time-to-market and more extensive local support in the region.

UL has been active in the region for nearly a decade, providing players in the mobile, payment, transport ticketing and government domains with security, compliance and interoperability testing, certification and advisory services. UL’s involvement in the region grew significantly since they first started supporting Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority (RTA) almost 10 years ago.

Since then, UL has seen the region develop rapidly and has gradually extended its scope within the region and now has a fast customer base in the payment, mobile and identity domains. With the growing need for advisory, test and certication services in the mobile and payments domain, including migrating towards EMV and enabling government services via de mobile phone, UL identified the Middle East and Africa region as a strategic growth area.

Berend van Geffen, Chief Commercial Officer at UL’s Transaction Security division, said: “The expansion of the offices in Dubai will enable us to add more expertise to the region. Our aim is to provide full local support in all areas of our business, whether it be test services in the payment domain, or advisory services for the government sector, we want to cover it all with our local team of experts. We are confident that these additional security experts and advisors will be invaluable to Middle Eastern and African organizations aspiring to migrate towards EMV or to implement new technologies, such as enabling services via da mobile device. Our experts have a comprehensive understanding of security, industry compliance and global interoperability requirements of the major industry bodies. A larger footprint across the region will allow our experts to be in close proximity with local organizations, which helps with closer communication and alignment.”

From the 5th of April 2015 onwards, UL’s new office will be located at the Nucleotide building, Unit 222, Dubiotech, Al Barsha, Dubai.
