The Singapore Computer Society Elects New President, Executive Council

The Singapore Computer Society (SCS) held its 58th Annual General Meeting on March 20, 2025, marking a new leadership chapter with the appointment of Lim Bee Kwan as President. Lim succeeds Sam Liew, who has served as President since 2022.

Under Liew’s leadership, SCS has seen membership grow and made significant strides in advancing professional excellence within Singapore’s tech community.

Key milestones in 2024 include:

  • The inaugural Sustainable Tech Forum;
  • The launch of the Women in Tech Board Readiness Program;
  • A revamp of the SCS Splash Awards, which transformed into the Splash Forum;
  • The introduction of the Skills Pathway for Cybersecurity, designed to help professionals build careers in cybersecurity;
  • Improvements to the STAR@SCS digital credentialing initiative, including new digital badges for micro-certifications and essential career skills;
  • The release of AI Ethics & Governance (AIEG) Body of Knowledge Version 2.0;
  • The elevation of the technopreneurship special interest group to Chapter 8;
  • The signing of MOUs with three trade associations and chambers, including the Association of Advertising and Marketing Singapore, Singapore Association of Motion Picture Professionals, and the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants;
  • Onboarding of nine SCS members to the INTEGRAF dispute resolution framework expert panel, where they play key roles in resolving IT contract disputes; and
  • Establishing a strategic MOU with the China Computer Federation.

Lim Bee Kwan brings a wealth of expertise and a deep commitment to driving innovation and growth within the industry. Her vision aligns with the Society’s mission to foster a vibrant tech ecosystem that empowers professionals and equips them with the skills needed to excel in the ever-evolving digital landscape.

“It is an honour to serve as President of the Singapore Computer Society and build on the legacy of Sam Liew.” said Lim. “I look forward to working with the Executive Council to continue our focus on upskilling and empowering tech professionals to stay relevant in this fast-paced and complex environment.”

The newly elected Executive Council for 2025/2026 comprises accomplished professionals representing a diverse range of expertise within Singapore’s technology ecosystem.

“Together, we will ensure that SCS remains at the forefront to enable our tech professionals and to shape Singapore’s technology landscape,” Lim said.

As part of her mandate, Lim aims to expand SCS’s efforts in tech professional development, advocate for technology adoption across industries, and foster a strong community of tech leaders and innovators.

Liew expressed his confidence in Lim’s leadership, stating, “Bee Kwan is a veteran in our IT industry,” said Liew. “Her strategic vision and dedication to advancing the tech profession will undoubtedly take SCS to new heights. Personally, I am deeply grateful and truly humbled by the unwavering support from SCS members over the past years.”
