International renewable energy developer ib vogt has achieved a financial close for the 29.99MW solar project and commenced construction in Sungei Petani, Malaysia. The project has been developed by ib vogt APAC under Malaysia’s Corporate Green Power Programme (CGPP), with hyperscale data centre specialist AirTrunk as the off-taker under a long-term power purchase agreement.
The project is the first known project under CGPP to break ground and begin construction featuring bi-facial modules and single axis tracker to maximize solar energy capture throughout the day. Once operational, the facility will prevent approximately 55,380 tons of CO2 emissions annually.
“Sourcing renewable energy is critical to achieve AirTrunk’s Net Zero commitment,” said AirTrunk VP Joscha Schmitz. “Together with our customers, some of the largest technology companies in the world, we have committed to matching 100% of electricity consumption at our data centres with renewable energy by 2030.”
