Sydney, Australia (23 November, 2011). ASIS International has announced that Dato’ Mohd Som Sulaiman, Deputy Commissioner (Retired) of the Royal Police of Malaysia will be a keynote speaker at the ASIS 5th Asia-Pacific Conference and Exhibition, taking place on 5-7 December 2011 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
After more than 35 years of Government service Dato’ Mohd Som Sulaiman retired as Deputy Commissioner of the Royal Malaysia Police in October 1991. During this time he served in various roles of the Police Force including combat operations, Criminal Investigations Department (CID) the Malaysia Special Branch and for 25 years was engaged in security intelligence procurement and operations against subversive, espionage, sabotage, international terrorists and criminal activities where he played leading roles in several crisis management incidences.
He was then appointed as the Head of Security of a multinational company where he was responsible for the implementation of the company’s security policy, risk assessment, physical security audits and corporate investigations. He has also been the Director and Chief Operating Officer of PRISM Protection Services Sdn Bhd and is now actively engaged as a security consultant involved in security audits, risks management and security awareness program to several multinational and local corporate companies in his role as a Director and Chairman of Corporate Risks Consulting Sdn Bhd.
Dato’ Mohd Som Sulaiman is not only active in Malaysia, but has been posted overseas; attends and presents papers at international seminars and has also worked with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. He is a member of the World Association of Detectives (WAD), the Asian Professional Security Association (APSA) Malaysia Chapter, and the Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF) among others.

The CSO Roundtable of ASIS International, the invitation and members-only forum of senior executives from the world’s largest organizations, will run sessions in parallel with the main ASIS educational programme.
