CelcomDigi Berhad has announced the next phase of CD:NXT, a talent development initiative aimed at strengthening Malaysia’s digital workforce through closer collaboration between universities and industry.

The company said the expanded programme is built around three components: a new campus@celcomdigi model intended to link classroom learning with workplace experience, its Young Talent Programme (YTP) for graduates, and a Certifications track covering topics including artificial intelligence and extended reality.

According to CelcomDigi, the launch of the new phase was officiated by Datuk Prof Dr Azlinda Azman, Director General of the Ministry of Higher Education, on behalf of the Minister of Higher Education, Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir.

CelcomDigi chief executive officer Albern Murty said the company sees a role for large Malaysian corporations to partner with government to create more pathways for young people into the digital economy. “CD:NXT is our commitment to building that future. We continue to invest in talent today to nurture a generation of Malaysians to grow their careers, have the freedom to innovate, build character and shape the nation’s future,” he said.

The campus@celcomdigi programme is set to start with four university partners: Universiti Malaya, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Universiti Kuala Lumpur and HELP University. CelcomDigi said second-year students would work on business challenges as part of coursework and receive mentorship from industry practitioners, while selected final-year students would undertake industry residencies at a dedicated on-site campus at the company’s headquarters.

CelcomDigi said it aims to reach more than 300 students annually through the final-year residency component, with plans to expand to additional universities over time.

The company said YTP, launched in 2025, is a two-year programme combining rotational assignments, mentorship and work on strategic business projects. It added that the second cohort comprises 20 graduates who will rotate across areas including cloud engineering, cybersecurity, data and business analytics, digital product development, and AI and automation.

CelcomDigi also positioned the Certifications programme as an extension of its CelcomDigi Metaversity initiative, offering accredited learning in AI and XR for school and university students and working professionals.
