TP in Malaysia has opened a new operations center in Johor Bahru, expanding its presence beyond Kuala Lumpur and Penang and positioning the site as a nearshore delivery hub for customers in Singapore and Southeast Asia.
The company said the Johor Bahru site will support customer experience, digital operations and revenue services, and is designed to give Singapore-based businesses access to Malaysia’s multilingual workforce through a cross-border operating model.
Located near the Johor-Singapore Causeway and within the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ), the facility is intended to support sectors including banking, fintech, travel and hospitality. TP said the proximity to Singapore would enable easier oversight, training and governance for clients operating across borders.
“With established operations in Kuala Lumpur and Penang, Johor Bahru enhances our national footprint and represents an important milestone in TP’s growth across Malaysia,” said Andy Rangel, Chief Executive Officer, TP in Malaysia. “Beyond expanding our delivery capabilities, Johor Bahru gives us access to exceptional multilingual talent while creating a unique nearshore proposition for Singapore-based businesses looking for greater agility, scalability and operational resilience. As AI reshapes customer experience, we believe Johor Bahru will play an increasingly important role in helping organizations combine technology with skilled human expertise.”
TP linked the expansion to broader growth in Malaysia’s Global Business Services (GBS) sector. Citing Malaysia’s Ministry of Digital, the company said the country has 749 GBS companies and that industry revenue is projected to reach RM28.14 billion by 2025.
The Johor Bahru facility will initially support a “leading global e-commerce company”, TP said, with growth expected from multinational organisations and Singapore-based enterprises. The company also said the site will support its “Revenue as a Service” capabilities in Malaysia.
