The TETRA communication system supplied by Teltronic for Ho Chi Minh City Metro Line 1 has successfully entered into operation following the launch of the city’s first urban rail line.
As the technology provider for Hitachi Rail, the project’s main contractor, Teltronic was responsible for the design, supply, and implementation of a comprehensive communication solution based on its TETRA radio system.
The solution includes the network infrastructure that provides TETRA coverage along the nearly 20-kilometer route, onboard radio equipment and control consoles for the 17 trains in service, portable and fixed terminals used by maintenance and security personnel, and the control centre solution, which features six operator workstations across two locations.
Teltronic has integrated its solution with other train subsystems, such as Public Address and intercom, as well as the Train Control & Management System (TCMS).
Line 1, which connects the city center (Ben Thanh) with the northeast (Suoi Tien), spans 19.7 kilometers, combining underground and elevated sections. This strategic project aims to improve urban mobility and reduce traffic congestion in Vietnam’s most populous city and one of the most dynamic in Southeast Asia.
“We are very proud to have contributed to the success of this historic project for Ho Chi Minh City. Our technology ensures secure, reliable, and efficient communications, which are essential for the daily operation of the railway system,” said Felipe Sanjuan, Transport Business Development Director at Teltronic.
